Several dozen people are expected to gather at the Cordova Center from Sept. 22-24 for the 11th annual Alaska Outdoor Alliance’s Confluence Summit.

The summit will include a governor candidate forum on the outdoors and an Alaska Municipal League workshop on cross-sector funding, positioning outdoor recreation infrastructure as health infrastructure.

The two main themes for this year’s summit are regenerative outdoor visioning and resources. The first will be a discussion of strategies for the future grounded in place-based leadership, stewardship, community wellbeing, and stronger relationships with land and water. The second will connect participants with agencies, funders and organizations to help move community priorities forward.

The annual event brings Alaskans together to discuss trends in outdoor recreation and share ideas on expanding that sector of the economy. This year’s attendees are to include over a dozen corporations and other entities, ranging from Chugach Alaska Corp. and the Chenega Corp. to the Alaska Travel Industry Association and Prince William Sound Economic Development District.

Hot breakfast and lunch will be provided. There will be a dinner on the first night of the summit, and the Alaska Conservation Foundation will host a soirée on the second night.

Registration fees are set on a cost-recovery basis and help offset the venue rental, food, and other summit essentials.  Donations are welcome.
