It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Cordova, with downtown lamp posts decorated and Moonlight Madness, the annual tree lighting and a caroling parade happening.
“We’re excited to collaborate this year with Brooke Mallory, who is organizing an expanded Cordova Christmas Bazaar back at Mt. Eccles Elementary,” said Cathy Renfeldt, Cordova Chamber of Commerce executive director. “The Holiday Bazaar offers a great opportunity for Cordova’s mini and micro-sized businesses to shine this holiday season, creating more options than ever to Shop Cordova First.”
The Hometown Holiday Kickoff and tree lighting were held in the parking lot of the Cordova Center on Dec. 5. The crowd stayed cozy sipping hot cocoa, purchased from a fundraiser benefiting Mt. Eccles Element School’s student council, and sang carols with help from Cordova Music students.
Santa Claus, escorted by the Cordova Volunteer Fire Department, arrived to light the community Christmas tree, before the caroling parade to Mt. Eccles Elementary School for the opening of the Cordova Holiday Bazaar.
As folks entered the bazaar, they were able to pick up a Shop Cordova First Passport, to help the Chamber of Commerce measure the economic impact of this annual local event.
The Chamber of Commerce is once again encouraging everyone to shop locally, especially from Dec. 12 through Dec. 19 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
