The nonprofit Alaska Rural Veterinary Outreach (ARVO) is planning to host another mobile veterinary clinic in Cordova this month.
From June 19-21, officials with the Anchorage-based clinic will be administering free vaccines for cats and dogs while in Cordova. The clinic will also be offering other services with varying prices – including spay and neuter surgeries, wellness exams, microchip implantation, deworming treatment, and euthanasia.
ARVO’s rural clinic program provides care to Alaska’s companion animals across the state. Many of the rural clinics are set up in places like Cordova – towns off the road system with zero full-time veterinarians. Generally visiting veterinarians conduct pet care in schools, community buildings or other public facilities.
ARVO made the trip out to Cordova for the first time last year.
