Cordova Iceworm Festival, which kicks off Jan. 31, and runs through Feb. 7, is the first of eight festivities coming up in Cordova in 2026 looking for volunteers.
Cordova, like most other communities in Alaska, and thousands of others nationwide, is struggling economically with rising grocery prices, the cost of housing, and childcare. The community counts on volunteers to make sure these festivals, which aim to lift everyone’s spirit, go according to plan.

Seven other festivities are coming up in Cordova between February and December and organizers are already hard at work planning agendas, making decisions on where and when to plan activities, hiring presenters, and more. Everyone and anyone living in Cordova is welcome to get involved.

The Cordova Chamber of Commerce, which traditionally organizes the Old Time Fourth of July Celebration on July 4, is seeking a new entity to organize this community event, due to defunding. Email [email protected] or call 907-424-7260 to learn more and pitch in as a volunteer.
