Happy New Year Cordova!
The 65th Iceworm Festival is now through Saturday, Feb. 1. The theme this year is “Once Upon an Iceworm.”
Our website www.icewormfestival.com is the hub for all your festival needs. You can read about and register for the main Iceworm events right online, as well as view the schedule, which links to community or business-led events.
We have new swag in the store this year, so make sure to come by a main event or stop by the Iceworm Store on Main Street to get a new beanie or hoodie, as well as your pins, stickers and more. We’ve also got a new online merch store launching soon!
The Miss Iceworm Program is looking for a new benefactor to continue the legacy of its scholarship program. We were so grateful to have David and Bootslyn Roemhildt personally funding scholarships for many young women in our community for almost a decade. If you feel compelled to support a scholarship or the fund, please reach out [email protected].
Iceworm is good for fundraising, and good for business. If you want to host a lunch or dinner fundraiser, host some games at the Paper Airplane Contest, or more, we’d love to have you on the schedule.
A few things for you to prep for:
- Buy treasure chest tickets! Enter to win one of two incredible prizes: Two round trip Alaska Airline tickets anywhere they fly, OR a historic PO Box made by the Cordova Museum filled with local gift cards!
- Create your float or walking group and register for the Iceworm Parade on Feb. 1. This is great for team building, community spirit, and creativity to showcase the theme with your business or group. (Registrations are due Jan. 28.)
- Sign up to be a street food vendor at the parade. Cordova has some amazing food talent and we want to eat it all.
- Host a food table or a carnival game at the Paper Airplane Contest on Sunday, Jan. 26 by emailing us at [email protected].
- Register your team for the Survival Suit races – They’re back! All ages are welcome to create a team of four to compete for speed and style in the annual races.
- Enter the cake competition on our website. Have your cake and eat it too by participating in this virtual event. Voting will take place the week of the festival, and winners will be announced by Feb. 2.
Go to our visitor page and encourage friends to visit.
Become a sponsor! You can sponsor the festival right online, and your dollars are paramount to funding the $11,400 fireworks show each year.
The Iceworm Festival is run by volunteers, and you! We need your help to make it happen each year. If you’d like to volunteer for a specific event, have skills the board could use, or want to be a part of this historic festival, reach out. Iceworm is Cordova’s community festival, and it takes all of us working together to maximize the fun. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
Happy Iceworm!
