The Alaska State Troopers are still investigating the death of an Arizona man after finding his body in the Cordova Harbor.
Around 3:45 a.m. on Aug. 3, troopers received a missing persons report for 24-year-old Arizona resident Kaden Westcott.
Witnesses reported a splashing sound at the harbor where several of Westcott’s personal items were floating in the water.
Alongside troopers, the Cordova Police Department and Cordova Volunteer Fire Department began searching the harbor but couldn’t find him. It wasn’t until the fire department deployed an underwater vehicle that officials found Westcott’s body submerged around 16 feet down.
According to his loved ones, Westcott was in the midst of his second season in Alaska working on a fishing boat at the time of the incident.
Westcott’s remains have been transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office and his next of kin has been notified.
