Loved ones and colleagues are remembering Billie Thomson, the longtime bookkeeper at the Reluctant Fisherman Inn, as a kindhearted soul and one of the inn’s hardest workers.
Reluctant Fisherman Inn owners Sylvia Lange and Greg Meyer announced Thomson died Sunday morning after a “tough battle with cancer.”
“She worked for us for many years previously at Cannery Row Fish Co., and she was invaluable there. She didn’t hesitate, showed up soon as, and stayed at her desk until her recent retirement last year,” they said. “Still, she answered the phone with any questions from the three people we now are training to fill her job.”
As news spread of Thomson’s passing, many people offered their condolences to her loved ones and shared stories of their experience with her.
“Billie was a breath of fresh air and always an upper. A Cordova treasure who will be remembered by so many,” one person wrote.
“She was so fun to work with at the Reluctant. Both as a high schooler and later in life as an adult. Always so caring and she kept in touch better than most, she will forever be missed!” said another.
Meyer and Lange added: “RIP, Billie. We love you and your memory will be with us and so many others.”
The Reluctant Fisherman co-owners said they plan to host a gathering at the inn to celebrate Thomson at a later date.
