The Cordova boys played a gauntlet of challenging teams at the Valdez Elks tournament on Feb.12-14, and came home winless.
On Feb. 12, they lost to 3A Valdez, 62-41. Eli Totemoff led the Wolverine scoring with 21 points, including five three pointers. CHS trailed 24-29 at half time.
On Feb. 13, Cordova stayed close to Houston through a half, trailing 22-20 at intermission. The 3A Hawks pulled away to win 45-36. Blake Bailey led Cordova with 16 points.
On Feb. 14 CHS faced Seward, who they had lost to twice the prior weekend. The Seahawks prevailed by a 59-31 final. Bailey again led Cordova, this time with 14 points.
The good news is that Cordova now has two weekends versus conference opponents. They face Glennallen and Tok in road games on Feb. 19-21, and then play a series versus Nenana at home during Homecoming on Feb. 27-28.
Then it is off to Fairbanks for Regionals at Effie Kokrine on March 5-7.
