Jacqueline Lee Rose passed away Oct. 11, 2025 in Eugene, Oregon at the age of 78 years old.
“Jacque” was born in Crescent City, California to Robert and Lillian Russell on Sept. 17, 1947. She graduated from Central Valley High School in Redding, California before attending Shasta College, where she met Dennis Rose at a school dance. The pair married on Feb. 10, 1968.
After having their third daughter, they moved to Cordova, Alaska in 1980 where they lived until 2012 with a brief California detour from 1987-1990. While in Cordova, Jacque worked at the Reluctant Fisherman Inn, as well as a secretary for George Harrington’s law office before going to work as an Administrative Assistant for the Cordova Community Hospital. She also worked for City Hall, and finished her career as the Executive Assistant for Cordova Telephone Cooperative. She retired to Oregon with winters spent in Arizona where she was able to reconnect with fellow Cordovans at the Alaskan meet-ups.
Jacque enjoyed crafting, decorating, knitting and quilting, but she was mostly known for her incredible skills in the kitchen. She honored her Italian heritage by making homemade breads and pastas, and especially enjoyed making decadent cheesecakes and desserts to share with others.
She served on many boards and fundraising groups in the Cordova community, as well as spearheaded the development of the “Safe and Sober” program to protect Cordova High School graduates. She was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and participated in a variety of their ministries throughout the years. She enjoyed halibut fishing, and was even featured in an issue of Alaska Magazine when she hooked the lip of a humpback whale; a feat for the most seasoned of Alaskans! Additionally, she earned a nice moose rack to prove her skill as a sharpshooter.
She is survived by Dennis, her husband of 57 years, her daughters Kellee (Jon) Grob, Melissa (John) Johnson, and Hillary (Brent) Reynolds, along with her grandchildren Denalee (Cody) Colton, Jordan Grob, Lilli Reynolds, Nathaniel Reynolds, Brenna Reynolds, Savanna Johnson, Jackson Grob, Cameron Grob, and Garrett Reynolds. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Lillian, her brother Robert, and her granddaughter Kendall. She loved her family so well, and she is greatly missed.
Details for a memorial service are to be determined at this time. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Bright Focus Foundation for their research into curing Alzheimer’s.
