The Pioneers of Alaska are set to host a clean up weekend in Cordova next month to help seniors and Elders.
During the Sept. 13-14 clean up weekend, members of the Pioneers and Cordova’s Refuse Department will remove unwanted items from properties along Lake Avenue, the Vina Young Subdivision, and Adams Street.
“This is a new project for the Pioneers,” the announcement states. “We hope that next year we will be able to continue with other areas in Cordova.”
The Pioneers of Alaska is a fraternal organization founded in 1907 for the purpose of sharing resources and preserving the history of those who call Alaska home. The local chapter hosted the organization’s annual statewide convention in Cordova last year.
