To the Editor,
On July 17, the Israeli military attacked the Holy Family Catholic Church in Gaza, killing three people.
Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza. Innocent men, women, and children are starving to death. Children have been shot and killed. Israel has destroyed Gaza.
During this genocidal war against Gaza and the Palestinian people, the United States Congress has voted multiple times to support Israel, including through military aid. It is past time to denounce these votes.
U.S. Rep. Nick Begich, a Republican who I endorsed and supported in 2024, has voted to support Israel without any explanation. I do not support his position. I oppose what Israel is doing in Gaza, including the assault against Christians.
I encourage all of you to call and write Rep. Begich’s office to demand that he oppose the genocidal actions of Israel.
The United States ought not support genocide. The United States ought not support Israel.
