The city’s water supply is running low, according to Cordova officials, who encouraged residents on Thursday afternoon to begin saving water where they can.
“We’ve all enjoyed the nice weather, but now our water supply is running low,” the city said on July 24. “There is no need to panic, but it is important to conserve water.”
The city recommended multiple areas city residents can be mindful about their water use, including by:
- Turning off the tap while brushing teeth;
- Taking shorter showers;
- Running only full loads in dishwashers and washing machines;
- Limiting outdoor watering;
- Not washing cars;
- And fixing any leaks promptly.
The forecast currently calls for some showers on Friday and Saturday, but not again until the middle of next week.
“Rain is expected soon, but it won’t be enough to refill our water supply,” the city said. “Please keep conserving water, even if it rains in the next few weeks.”
Residents are encouraged to call the city’s Water Department at 907-424-6338, or City Hall at 907-424-6200 to report water leaks.
