Follow your dreams! Take one or more adult classes now through July 18 on your lunch hour, after work, or on your days off.
We offer kids music camp this same week – but as an adult, you can have fun too! We have instruments to loan and an easy color-coded method so you’ll be singing and playing in the adult camp band by the end of the week.
The Adult Music Camp offers one-hour classes from noon to 6 p.m. in guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, mountain dulcimer, bass, harmony singing, ukulele, and hula. We have beginning to advanced classes for all the instruments – so you can take classes at your level with no previous experience is required.
Instructors include Kate Hamre (“Bearfoot Band” national and international bass player and Girdwood teacher); Angela Oudean (“Bearfoot Band” and now “Cold Country” band member, prize-winning fiddler, singer and Anchorage orchestra teacher); Carter Bancroft (old-time fiddler who plays in “Big Chimney Barndance”); Rion Schmidt (banjo player and leader of many bands including “Sloughgrass” and the “Aloha Bluegrass Band”); Nancy Gallambush (mountain dulcimer and cello player from the Carolinas); Patty Hamre (Anchorage singer, ukulele, bass and guitar player); Mandy Booth (bass, mandolin and guitar player in Anchorage bands); Charlie Trowbridge (Homer singer, guitar and mandolin player); Belle Mickelson (Cordova fiddler); and musicians from the Ke Kekui Foundation in Hawai’i. Marshall Hawkins, former bass player with the Miles Davis jazz band, will be stopping by some of our classes.
Sign up at https://www.cordovamusiccamp.org. Cost is $150 for a week-long class or $40/hour. It’s a fundraiser for Cordova Music Kid’s Camp scholarships.
We have a whole schedule of musicians put together. Adult Music Camp classes are held at the Nazarene Church. Adult campers and instructors will be playing on Main Street from noon to 1 p.m. on Friday, July 18!
If you want to take a class, but don’t see it listed or need it at a different time or have questions, reach Belle Mickelson at 907-388-3347 or at [email protected].
