The Cordova Police Department still doesn’t have many answers about last month’s car accident in Cordova that resulted in the death of Jonathan Fleming.

That’s according to police Sergeant Cameron Hayden, who told The Cordova Times last week that the wreck is a case cops still don’t have a lot of details about. He attributed the slow reporting to short staffing at the department, as well other pressing police matters.

However in a previous call to the Police Department, officials confirmed with The Cordova Times that the incident was a single vehicle accident.

Since Fleming’s accident, more than 60 people have raised almost $6,000 for his family on GoFundMe – over halfway to the $10,000 goal. The GoFundMe post says Fleming got into the accident while returning from setting up a weekend of camping for his family.

“In this time of deep sorrow, we are reaching out to family, friends, and our community to help ease the burden on his loved ones,” the post says. “Funds raised will go directly toward covering the cost of his cremation and helping his family with travel expenses to bring John home to his final resting place in Oklahoma.”
