Only one bid package was received for three open aeronautical lots at the Cordova Airport by the December deadline, state Department of Transportation (DOT) officials confirmed.
The department accepted an individual bid project for a storage hangar to house a personal aircraft, said Kim Swenson, airport leasing specialist with the DOT.
But that’s just one lease out of three available that received bids by the Dec. 18, 2024 deadline.
The state released a call for a sealed bid offering for three aeronautical lots at the Cordova Airport back in November. Each lot, which is approximately 22,500 square feet, was being leased for $4,882.50 per year. The term, according to the offering, is 50 years on the required minimum investment of $337,500 in permanent improvements.
As of late January, Swenson said the other two Cordova Airport leases were still open.
“The remaining two lots will continue to be available for lease,” she said. “If we receive an application, it will be processed following standard procedures, which includes a 30-day public notice period.”
