With the start of summer comes the promise of harvest. Salmon returning symbolize the abundance of the Copper River Delta. Time to fish. Greening plants and blossoming flowers beckon to foragers. Time to gather. One of our favorite festivals of the year is almost here. Time to celebrate!

For more than 15 years, Copper River Salmon Jam has been a time to come together as a community, listen to music, dance, and enjoy the height of summer. Taste of Cordova is an important part of Salmon Jam. This community potluck is on Saturday, July 20 from 3-5 p.m. on the festival grounds at Mt. Eyak Ski Area. Get ready for a fun culinary experience.

Taste of Cordova is open to all festival attendees and offers an opportunity to savor the flavors of this rich environment. It’s a chance to share your favorite dish, prepared with any local ingredients you may have on hand. We highly encourage dishes featuring: Copper River salmon, halibut, cod, shrimp, crab, wild game, berries, mushrooms, kelp, or native plants. Don’t have any of these? No problem! We would love to see a diversity of cuisines from around the world represented, so just make what you love. You will also have the chance to sample the home-cooking of your friends, neighbors, and community members during this celebration of food.

Come enjoy the many delicious tastes of Cordova! Plates, cutlery, and food labels will be provided. Find out more about Taste of Cordova at salmonjam.org or email [email protected].
