The Bay to Bay again was a huge community success. We had a great turnout for this year’s bike, run, walk event, even with tough weather conditions. There sure are plenty of tough, positive-minded people in Cordova, and I am grateful that so many folks challenged the wind and the rain.
Congratulations Sierra Westing for posting the fastest female youth and adult times. Congratulations Peter Solberg for fastest youth male time, and Curtis Finch for fastest adult male time. And definitely congratulations to all the families that kept their kids warm and happy.
We were able to as a group raise over $500 for the Cordova Trail and Covered Spaces Project. Hopefully some day when this wonderful vision becomes a reality; these covered spaces will be the aid stations for the event!
Thank you so much to CCMC for donating the prizes and providing much of the race day supplies. Thank you AC for providing snacks and drinks. Thank you Parks and Recreation for doing logistics and registration. Thank you community fellowships of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the Baptist Church, and the Church of the Nazarene for manning the aid stations. And a big thanks to Orca Adventure Lodge for opening up their doors to the participants to offer shelter and warm drinks after the event, and providing a shuttle back to town.
