The Cordova Times is seeking another skilled local freelance reporter to focus on news coverage coming out of Cordova and the surrounding Prince William Sound area. The weekly newspaper, established in 1914, is an Alaska Press Club award-winning publication that has been undergoing an editorial and managerial reboot since 2022.

An ideal candidate for the freelance reporter position will have strong writing and communication skills, good news judgement, and will be able to make and maintain connections in Cordova, even though our newsroom is remote. While we do publish arts and culture pieces, the freelance reporter will focus on hard local news — including on the local government and fisheries beats. Any prior journalism and/or photography experience is an added bonus.

To apply for the position please email a resume, two writing samples, and a photography portfolio if you have it to [email protected]
