Registration is now open for the 10th Alaska Young Fishermen’s Summit, set for Dec. 5-7 at the Anchorage Marriot Downtown in Anchorage, and will include three days of intensive training and networking opportunities.

This year the training is to include educational and networking activities that take advantage of the coinciding meeting of the North Pacific Fishery Management Council.

The full registration fee of $200 ($225 after Nov. 17) is discounted $100 for Alaska commercial fisherman, thanks to support from Alaska Sea Grant and summit sponsors. Alaska commercial fisherman should enter the registration code ALASKAFISH to have the discount applied.

Attendees are responsible for their own travel and lodging arrangements.

Alaska Sea Grant has limited travel scholarships available. To be considered for the scholarship, complete the AYFS Travel Scholarship Application online by noon on Nov. 9. Successful applicants will be contacted by email or phone by Nov. 10 to make travel arrangements.

For questions contact Kodiak Marine Advisory Agent Julie Mateweyou at [email protected].

A discounted room block is available at the event hotel for $189 per night. That rate is available for nights between Dec. 1 through Dec. 10, but must be booked by Nov. 27.

The Hotel Captain Cook is also offering discounted rates. To inquire about rates and availability, call their reservation desk at 907-276-6000 and reference the Alaska Young Fishermen’s Summit.
