Application period opens for land, water conservation grants

Officials with the Alaska Division of Parks & Outdoor Recreation (DPOR) will be accepting applications for the Land & Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) from Aug. 1 through noon of Oct. 31, for an estimated $1 million in funding.

State, regional, local, and tribal governments with the legal authority to provide park and recreation services on public lands are eligible to apply for LWCF assistance.

High priority projects should also reflect one or more of the three specific strategic goals outlined in the Alaska State Comprehensive Plan for Outdoor Recreation (SCORP) 2023-2027.

Goals of such projects would include support of the Alaska outdoor recreation way of life, empowering and enabling Alaskans to lead active and healthy lives, and balancing outdoor recreation growth and stewardship.

The application package is to be made available online by Aug. 1.
