USDA purchases 1.67 M pounds of wild Alaska Pollock

Trident Seafoods had the winning bid in the sale of 1.672 million pounds of wild Alaska Pollock sticks valued at $3.768 million to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the federal agency announced on June 10.

The wild caught Pollock in crispy, crunchy Panko breading is a kid favorite, and a serving of three pieces, with 11 grams of protein, is just 160 calories.

The award was based on offers received by USDA on May 15. Deliveries are to be made from Sept. 1 through Feb. 15 to child nutrition and other related domestic food assistance programs.

Distribution points include Arizona, California Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
