Taste of Cordova: Calling all chefs!

Last year during Salmon Jam, we had one of the best turnouts for Taste of Cordova. The winning entries included roast goose, a cranberry crumble and salmon prepared three different ways: poked, kippered and pickled.

Dozens of Cordova chefs brought their A-game to the ski hill, and we hope this year’s event will be even more fun.

Prizes will be awarded to chefs based on five culinary categories. “King of Fish” will go to the best submission incorporating fish or shellfish. A “Beer of the Year” category will have a prize for the best dish incorporating this Salmon Jam’s brewery sponsor Alaskan Brewing Company. The “Fabulous Flora” prize will be awarded to the best entry showcasing local plants and/or mushrooms. The most visually stunning dish will be awarded the “Best Presentation” prize. And finally, the “Best in Show” category celebrates the best overall dish the judges cannot stop eating.

Taste of Cordova is open to all who would like to sample the spread from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 14. Chefs should have entries to the Taste of Cordova table by 6 p.m. Visit bit.ly/TasteofCordova for more information. If stumped for a recipe, pick up a copy of Edible Alaska magazine for culinary inspiration. The magazine is available at The Net Loft, library, Copper River Watershed Project and Copper River Prince William Sound Marketing Association.
