CEC electrical outage

Cordova Electric Cooperative has a scheduled system-wide outage from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, March 19 to conduct maintenance at the Orca Generation Facility. For more information call 907-424-5555.

Tsunami siren drill

A Cordova tsunami siren drill will be held between 10:15-10:45 a.m. March 29. Do not call 911, as this is only a test of the tsunami warning system. You may hear sirens, or see or hear a message that a tsunami warning has been issued. This is a good time to make sure you know what to do in case of a real tsunami and practice your emergency preparedness procedures. Send feedback to

Plastics recycling

The Copper River Watershed Project is sponsoring a Plastics Recycling Event from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on March 31, at the Alaska Commercial Company parking lot. Volunteers are needed. Sign up at


Electronics recycling

An electronics recycling drive will take place April 20-23, on the city lot where aluminum cans and cardboard are currently being accepted, with the electronics’ Conex open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and locked evenings. All electronics with a cord or battery are accepted!  For more information please call NVE at 424-7738.

Cordova Community Health Fair

The Cordova Community Health Fair is set for April 22. Location and time to be announced. This is a community-wide event for all ages and is a great opportunity to get annual blood work done, and keep an eye on your health.

CHS book sale

Cordova High School is selling used library books for $1 a bag. The sale will be held from 11 a.m. -1 p.m. every Saturday in April at Cordova High School’s ILP Building.
