Polaris recalls select ATVs

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Polaris Industries announced a recall on 95,000 Polaris All-Terrain Vehicles.

Consumers are warned not to use the vehicles as they may have defective electronic control modules that may overheat, catch on fire and burn its riders.

The recall is for select 2005 through 2006 models of Polaris Sportsman and Scrambler 500 ATVs, which were sold nationwide from August 2004 through February 2005.

The affected units can be verified by comparing the last six digits of the serial number to the following:

• Model 2004.5 SPORTSMAN 500, Models A04CH50(AO)(AR)(AS), serial numbers 4XACH50A*4A 347719 – 348073 and 4XACH50A*4B 407412 – 407876.

To find the serial number, look on the left frame rail behind the left front wheel.

Consumers should contact their Polaris ATV dealer to schedule an appointment for ECM replacement.
