Walkers raise funds to help those in cancer treatment

More than 100 people participated in Cordova’s Sixth Annual 2x2 CancerWalk under sunny skies on Saturday, April 12.

CancerWalk Board Member Kay Groff noted many generous donations.

"We received an anonymous $5,000 donation this year, for which we are very grateful," Groff said. "We have been fortunate to be able to distribute funds to 12 Cordovans."

While the final tally of monies raised was not available at press time, Northwind Quilters donated $2,000 and raised another $1,564 at the walk.

This annual event is the group’s only fundraiser of the year and helps Cordovans with the costs associated with cancer screening, treatments or travel and lodging.

Friends and relatives of Cordovans who have cancer or have had cancer were invited to bring photographs to share and display on the photo boards at the registration tables.'a0

"The 2x2 CancerWalk Board of Directors appreciates Cordova’s continued generosity> , and we hope we can count on you again this year," Groff said.
