The musical group Bearfoot will teach a Bluegrass Camp for Kids ages 6-17 years from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of spring break week, March 24-26, at The Little Chapel.
Bearfoot is a band that grew out of the Cordova 4-H Camp. Eight years ago, when the current members were 14-17 years old, they served as counselors at the camp.
Since then they’ve produced 3 CDs and traveled in the United States, Canada and Ireland doing concerts and 65 Bluegrass Music Camps for Kids.
In addition to bluegrass, they play and can teach old-time, folk, jazz and blues. Campers will have a chance to sign up for beginning through advanced guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, singing and bass.
Bearfoot band members, including Cordova’s Mike Mickelson, will teach classes.
Each camper will also be in a band with others their own age. The camp concert will be at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, at the Little Chapel. Cost of the camp is $150.
