Graduates of Cordova High School will be holding an all-school reunion Aug. 4-8. This is the second time in CHS history that former students have gathered for a reunion, and organizers hope to make it a regular event every five years. The 2004 gathering drew alumni, family and friends from across the state and throughout the lower 48. Committee member Lennette Olsen Ronnegard encourages guests to get registered and to make travel plans now. "The last time people were calling friends saying 'we are having a blast, get down here' and the planes into Cordova were full. One group ended up chartering a plane out of Anchorage," said Ronnegard. One of the most popular events is the daily morning Mug Up coffee gathering. "No matter what we planned, people just wanted to be together," said Ronnegard. "They really enjoyed the Morning Mug Ups as a time to visit casually with friends so we will definitely be doing those again." The Reluctant Fisherman Inn is the site of a no-host welcome event on Aug. 4. There will be individual class gatherings at various venues throughout the weekend. The all-community Cordova Center Groundbreaking and Picnic takes place from noon-3:30 p.m. on Aug. 6. A CHS pep rally and basketball game is planned for Friday night. Saturday evening the All-School Reunion Dinner and Dance will take place at Cordova High School. A group photo is planned following dinner. A tour to Childs Glacier is planned for Sunday morning, followed by a potluck picnic at Hollis Henrichs Park. Registration is limited and Ronnegard anticipates a sold out event. The fee is $45 per person or $90 per couple which includes the reunion dinner and most other events. There is an additional fee for the Childs Glacier tour on Sunday.
